Takapuna Grammar School is a government co-educational high school situated on the North Shore of Auckland city. It was opened in 1927 and is one of 7 Grammar Schools built in Auckland. The school is set in 12 hectares of grounds and playing fields, bordered by the Waitemata Harbour with Rangitoto Island dominating the seascape.
The school is a signatory to the New Zealand Ministry of Education’s “Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students”. The students have access to the support of 7 full-time International Department staff including 1st language Korean and Chinese counsellors. In addition these is a dedicated common area for International Students.
The community
The students mainly live inside a zone that has been created around the school centred on the areas of Devonport, Takapuna and Milford. Students who reside inside this zone have absolute right of entry into the school. It is therefore a community school and many of the students are the third or fourth generation of their family to have attended.
